Midori Aoyama is a DJ, producer, remixer and party organizer who has been active in the nightlife of Tokyo for a few years. He is now becoming one of the main forces for quality dance music in Japan. He also runs a club night called EUREKA! Where he invites artists like Reel People, Atjazz and Kyodai, Detroit Swindle and Mad Mats.
Japan has always, ALWAYS, been at the epicenter of the global dance music scene. No other place on the planet has such a vibrant and diverse club culture where one could find everything from techno, soulful house, hip-hop, and trance to deep experimental sounds that don’t fall into any category. That scene exists because of soldiers like Midori Aoyama, who keep things together through their creative contributions and the hard work they put in to keeping the party going.
Midori Aoyama’s music is a futurist and soulful blend of house and broken beats (that’s what it sounds like to me anyway). It is deep and not overly cluttered with noise. It is not cheesy or cliché. His sounds sing of the organic and roots based nature of the Tokyo underground.
